Description
Snakehead! These are the most sought after of the Gibson A style round hole instruments, and for good reason. They sound great! This is a very late 1924 or early 1925, the same year and style as my personal mandolin. Stamped A on the label. Black top finish and reddish brown back and sides. It has a hand painted logo, top bound only, square end tuners, and the wide center sound hole ring like the A2Z. This is a classic Loar era instrument with the sound that you expect from this period. Plays smoothly with excellent volume and tone. This is just a great sounding mandolin - an excellent demonstration of why many pickers believe the snakeheads are the best oval hole mandolins ever made by Gibson. Excellent condition with some minor finish wear and checking. No breaks, cracks or refinish. Has the adjustable truss rod and bridge. All hardware and finish is original.
