Mandolin, Style A2Z
Serial 74971
Factory Order number: 11991
Description
Very clean mandolin in excellent original condition. The A2Z variation is the most sought after of the Gibson A style round hole instruments, and for good reason. They sound great! The label is marked "A2Z". It has the inlaid pearl logo, bound top, back and fingerboard, the double thin soundhole rosettes like the A2, and the thin black line of inner binding on the top. This is a classic Loar era instrument with the sound that you expect from this period. Plays smoothly with excellent volume and tone. This is just a great sounding mandolin - an excellent demonstration of why many pickers believe the snakehead era mandolins are the best ever made by Gibson. Excellent condition with some very minor finish wear and checking and some pick scratches on the bass side of the top. No breaks, cracks or refinish. Blonde top finish and brown back and sides. Has the adjustable truss rod. All hardware and finish is original.
